Alexander Nubel is a better fit to become Germany new number one than Marc-Andre ter Stegen, according to a former Germany international.

Former Germany international Dietmar Hamann has revealed he is backing Stuttgart goalkeeper Alexander Nubel to become Germany’s number one ahead of Barcelona veteran Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Ufabet Germany reported on Friday.

Manuel Neuer announce his retirement from the Germany national team earlier this week, and the expectation is that the Bayern Munich goalkeeper will be replace by Marc-André ter Stegen. The FC Barcelona star could finally get an extended opportunity between the sticks for Julian Nagelsmann’s side, and will hope to cement his status as Germany’s new first-choice goalkeeper.

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann will have to choose a new first-choice goalkeeper after Manuel Neuer announce his departure from Germany, with Ter Stegen expect to step up to the plate, but Hamann believes Nubel is better suite to the role.

‘Alexander Nübel, you have a goalkeeper who, in my opinion, can be the DFB goalkeeper for the next three or four tournaments. He is five years younger than Ter Stegen and, for me, is the best (option) at the moment. I would like UFABET to try to have Nübel as the goalkeeper for the next World Cup,’ Hamann said.

Nubel is currently on loan at Stuttgart and played a key role as the Whites finished second in the Bundesliga last season. While Bayern Munich have identified him as Neuer’s successor when the 38-year-old decides to hang up his gloves.
