Comic-Con 2012: ‘Falling Skies’ Gang Tease Rest of Season 2

Jul 14, 2012
Carol

Make sure you check out the recap in its entirety over at HollywoodReporter.com, but in the meantime check out the little blurb below.

What About Maggie and Hal — and Karen?: “They are so different,” cast member Drew Roy said of the differences between Maggie and Hal. “We’re going to see a little more of where she came from and [how she knows Hal].” He teased that it’ll come “in an intimate kind of setting so [Hal] has to deal with it right then and there.”

With Karen coming back into the fray — after Hal and Maggie discover deharnessed kids — things will definitely get complicated for all parties involved. “Maggie cares about Hal and knows that Hal has feelings for Karen,” actress Sarah Carter says. “Part of Maggie’s inclination is to step back and see what happens and she’s also stepping back because she doesn’t trust that thing [looking over at surprise panelist Jessy Schram, who plays Karen].” Schram said: “Hal’s got the toughest card here.”

Drew’s ‘Falling Skies’ Co-Star Connor Jessup Discusses Ben & Hal’s Relationship

Jul 12, 2012
Carol

Thanks to our friend over at ThreeIfBySpace.net I’m happy to share a little blurb that Drew’s co-star Connor Jessup, who plays his television brother Ben on Falling Skies, had to say as he talked about Hal and Ben’s relationship in depth and why he enjoys his scenes with Drew.

Connor Jessup has commented that Homecoming and Molon Labe are his 2 favorite episodes and he is right. These two episodes have a lot going on with Ben. The preview also hints at some conflict involving Ben and Hal with regards to Karen as we see Ben and Karen on the roof with Hal pointing a gun at Ben.

“That relationship was a lot of fun. Drew, who plays Hal, is a really cool guy and a great actor. My scenes with him this year were some of my most enjoyable. I enjoy doing those scenes with him. I enjoy the dynamic of tension and misunderstanding and confusion. But also at the core of it, a brotherly affection. We are not that different. What is most interesting about this dynamic is Ben this season is not all that dis-similar to how Hal was last season: Ive taken over the roll of the bull-headed, stubborn, violent one. So I think there are a lot of parallels between Bens interactions with Hal this year, and Toms interactions with Hal last year.”

TNT Orders Third Season Season of Epic Drama Falling Skies!

Jul 11, 2012
Carol

Courtesy of the official TNT press release, we now know that Falling Skies will return to our screens next Summer!

TNT has ordered a third season of its epic original series Falling Skies, from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg. The critically acclaimed drama starring Noah Wyle finished its first season last year as basic cable’s top new series of 2011. Currently averaging 5.9 million viewers, the series ranks as basic cable’s #1 summer drama with adults 18-49. TNT has ordered 10 episodes Falling Skies‘ third season, slated to air in 2013.

“Falling Skies is television storytelling at its very best, a powerful drama that’s told on both an epic scale and on a deeply personal level,” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “With all the memorable and surprising moments taking place during the second season of Falling Skies, we can’t wait to see what DreamWorks Television and Falling Skies‘ terrific production team and cast members have in store for season three.”

Falling Skies, which currently airs on TNT Sundays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), chronicles the devastating aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the months since the initial invasion, the few remaining survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force, whose nature and purpose remains a mystery.

TNT’s announcement that Falling Skies has been renewed for a third season comes just as the cast prepares to make an appearance at Comic-Con in San Diego. Series stars Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Connor Jessup, Colin Cunningham and Sarah Carter, along with executive producer Remi Aubuchon, will join moderator Wil Wheaton for a panel session on Friday, July 13, at 4:30 p.m. (PT) in room 6BCF at the San Diego Convention Center. An autograph signing will follow at the Dark Horse Comics booth at 6 p.m. (PT). TNT has partnered with Dark Horse Comics on a number of Falling Skies initiatives, including a prequel comic book that preceded last year’s series premiere.
